Environmental Marine Monitoring at Khalifa Port
Project Details
• This Project aimed to study the impact of KP Port Expansion operations on marine habitat in the area between the western edge of Ras Ghanada breakwater and the eastern part of Khalifa Port and to evolve suitable environmental safeguarding measures to comply with the applicable requirements of local, Federal, and international (IMO) environmental legislation
• Monitoring was done through three dives per year for a total duration of three years.
• The ecological monitoring survey was conducted by our team of marine ecologists, surveyors and divers at 85 locations by categorizing the habitats into dense, sparse corals and dense seagrass, based on their attributes.
• The survey was done by SCUBA diving and videography survey with the help of Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV).
