Project Details

• The Abu Dhabi Ports - Khalifa Port Environmental Breakwater realized that a section of the Environmental Breakwater is foreseen to be removed in near future due to the expansion / development of port and, there with, many thousand corals be lost. It envisaged to remove the larger corals from the section of the Environmental Breakwater and to transplant them onto a suitable site on the natural Ras Ghanada reef.
• Our team of experts and divers successfully executed this project through application of standard methodology which covers:
✓ Pre-translocation survey at the donor site
✓ Selection of potential recipient site
✓ Selection of healthy corals
✓ Translocation from donor to recipient site
✓ Coral colony tagging
✓ Reporting
• This would be followed by monitoring for two consecutive years to assess the health of translocated coral colonies.
